Once upon a time, Arden Key was a prospect that had scouts truly buzzing. While at LSU, the edge rusher appeared to be a first-round lock as he entered his final season. But with a year that was unimpressive combined with character concerns and a bad NFL Combine showing, his stock fell. In fact, it was shocking to some that he went as early as he did when the Raiders took him in the third round.

As a rookie, though, Key played a substantial role as he appeared in all 16 games, starting in 10 of them. He clearly had a long way to go in his development but there was still potential. That didn’t come to fruition in the 2019 season, though, as he struggled to get on the field.

Vic Tafur of The Athletic (subscription required) named Key one of the biggest risers at Raiders camp, quoting Mayock as saying:

"“I think this offseason was different for him. Even though we weren’t in the building, I sensed a different Arden Key. I think his commitment to the organization, and even more importantly, the commitment to his talent he had himself, those were both evident and I think they’re showing up right now.”"

Though the Raiders have two young playmakers in Ferrell and Maxx Crosby on the edge, they need depth. If Key can come through has a reinvented player early in his career, that would be a huge boom for the Las Vegas defense.
