Alvin Kamara is reportedly on the trade block amid a contract holdout with the Saints.

Seemingly out of nowhere, running back Alvin Kamara became the center of big-time NFL drama. After showing up at Saints training camp despite looking for a new contract, he missed three-straight practices in an apparent contract holdout. And now things have escalated much further than that since then.

On Tuesday, ESPN’s Josina Anderson reported that the Saints were open to trading the three-time Pro Bowl running back. NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport added that Kamara and his agent had not asked for a trade from New Orleans and thought negotiations were going well. Having said that, the Saints could still be willing to make a deal.

In an age where paying running backs is becoming almost taboo, we are seeing players hold out more often than not and, sometimes, that leads to a trade. So if the Saints choose to go that route, which NFL teams would be great trade landing spots for Alvin Kamara? Let’s take a look at five trade fits.

If the Saints trade Alvin Kamara, which NFL teams could deal for the RB?

5. Jacksonville Jaguars

In case you hadn’t heard, the Jaguars now have some room on their running back depth chart. On Monday, they cut ties with running back Leonard Fournette, the No. 4 overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. And while they have salary cap problems, they do need answers at the position.

Kamara’s ability at this point is unquestioned. He’s averaged 5.0 yards per carry with 27 rushing touchdowns over three seasons while also catching 81 passes in each year for a total of 2,068 yards and 10 touchdowns as well.

Jay Gruden loves to utilize his running backs in every facet and Kamara would be a phenomenal fit, particularly matching him with young quarterback Gardner Minshew. If they Jags wanted to invest beyond this season, they would make some sense as a trade partner with the Saints.
