One surprising cut each NFL team could make for 2020

Minnesota Vikings: Tajae Sharpe, Wide Receiver
This one would have been an easy pick as the player to be cut by the Minnesota Vikings would have been left tackle Riley Reiff had he not re-negotiated his contract to lower his cap hit. After coming over from the Detroit Lions, Reiff has yet to meet expectations but saved his spot with that move.
That turns our attention to wide receiver Tajae Sharpe as a possible release candidate. He just signed a one-year deal in the offseason but it’s a crowded room. He’s not unseating Adam Thielen or Justin Jefferson and the presence of Bisi Johnson and K.J. Osborne could make the veteran expendable.
New England Patriots: Derek Rivers, EDGE
The New England Patriots already shocked us by releasing wide receiver Mohamed Sanu less than one year after trading a second-round pick for his services. Clearly, he wasn’t a great fit in their offense but still, no one saw this move coming.
Then again, it’s always hard to guess what Bill Belichick and the Pats are going to do. They march to the beat of their own drum, but that won’t stop us from trying to guess their next surprise move. And with that, the pick is Derek Rivers the former 83rd overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft.
A small-school standout from Youngstown State, Rivers tore his ACL as a rookie and then missed 2019 after suffering another injury. In all, he has just two tackles and one sack. And that could be the final stat line for him.
