One surprising cut each NFL team could make for 2020

New Orleans Saints: Kiko Alonso, Linebacker
This offseason, the New Orleans Saints made a couple of interesting moves. They released Larry Warford and extended Andrus Peat before drafting Cesar Ruiz. Their line is stacked now but it’s not exactly like they were hurting last season with Warford.
New Orleans also added Emmanuel Sanders which gives them a solid No. 2 wide receiver. In addition to that, they signed Jameis Winston to back up Drew Brees. However, they also made a surprising move to pay Taysom Hill a ton of money to play a small role in the offense. It also put them dangerously close to the cap limit and now Alvin Kamara wants to be paid.
Having said all that, there’s no telling what they might do with their roster to find the money but one option could be to move on from Kiko Alonso. He has durability issues and is on the PUP as he recovers from a torn ACL. Still, there’s no guarantee the Saints won’t cut ties with him and save a little more than $1.5 million in the process.
New York Giants: Dion Lewis, Running Back
There was a time when Dion Lewis couldn’t catch a break in the NFL. Then he was a budding star. Now, he’s a veteran playing on the back nine. His career has had all the highs and lows and he now finds himself fighting for a spot on the New York Giants roster.
He seems as though he should be the No. 2 back but there’s no guarantee that he will beat out Wayne Gallman. Should that happen, it would be hard to keep him around.
