Seattle Seahawks: 3 Must-watch games in the 2020 season
By Samuel Teets
1. Week 17 at San Francisco 49ers
In the perfect scenario for NFL fans, the NFC West crown comes down to a divisional game between the 49ers and Seahawks in the season’s final week. Too often, teams rest starters in Week 17 because they have nothing to play for. However, when the last game decides who wins a division, it’s always must-see television.
Seattle and San Francisco meet in Week 8 this coming season. Last year, the Seahawks pulled off an overtime win in their first matchup against the 49ers. San Francisco avenged the loss by defeating Seattle in Week 17. These two teams have been slugging it out since the Legion of Boom days, and the games are always fun to watch.
While the 49ers have a slight edge in depth, the Seahawks arguably have a more talented roster. The acquisition of Adams puts Seattle’s secondary above San Francisco’s. However, the 49ers clearly have better defensive and offensive lines, and the Seahawks have no answer for George Kittle. Then again, Jimmy Garoppolo can’t compare to Wilson.
The Week 17 matchup could come down to which team has the ball last. Wilson is well-known for his late-game heroics while Garoppolo and San Francisco’s offense came up short late in the Super Bowl. Without Emmanuel Sanders, the 49ers lost some of their ability to make deep plays as well.
Chances are the NFC West won’t come down to the final week, but every football-loving fan hopes the season’s last game is relevant and enjoyable. The Seattle-San Francisco rivalry is one of the best this decade. Hopefully it produces some classic performances this season.
