3. Blake Jarwin, Tight End

With Jason Witten gone for the second time in three years, the Dallas Cowboys are once again set to turn to a new tight end as their starter. This time it will be Blake Jarwin, who was supposed to have a big role in 2017 when Witten was in the ESPN booth, but he didn’t really break out the way the team expected him to.

Then in 2018 when he looked prime to have a better campaign (following a huge Week 17 performance to close out his second season), the Cowboys decided to bring Witten back, and that push Jarwin to the back burner.

Even with Witten there as a progress stopper, Jarwin showed a lot of growth as a player. He finished last season with 31 receptions on 41 targets for 365 yards and three touchdowns. He was more explosive and then Witten was, but the Cowboys just wouldn’t rely on him as the full-time starter as Jason Garrett continued to lean on his old friend.

Now with Mike McCarthy replacing Garrett, the Cowboys are ready to give Jarwin a bigger role. They proved this as they gave him a three-year extension worth more than $24 million before the season even began. That was proof that McCarthy and returning offensive coordinator Kellen Moore both believe in Jarwin’s chances of becoming a big weapon in this offense.
