Beating a dead horse, my strategy tends to be to stream defenses throughout the season based on matchups. Understanding that if you’re working with a strict FAB budget or simply don’t want that hassle in your life, though, I’ve tried to simply wait until the next-to-last round to take a defense I have faith in for the full year.
More often than not, the Minnesota Vikings D/ST ends up on the roster. With the addition of Yannick Ngakoue, the pass-rush should be quite dangerous to both create sacks and to help out a secondary that has been rebuilt. Paired with an elite linebacker corps and a defensive back group that does have upside under Mike Zimmer, there’s reason to have faith in this group.

Selecting kickers in fantasy football is a horribly inexact science in that you can only do so much. Not only are most kickers relatively inconsistent but they also have to contend with weather, coaching decisions and so many factors that are out of their control. All you can do is pick a kicker in a good offense and hope he sees the field a lot.
Therefore, I rounded out this draft with Matt Prater for that exact reason. With Matthew Stafford returning this season for the Lions, that offense should be moving the ball at a high level, especially with the defense still having question marks. As such, Prater should see plenty of chances to put points on the board.
