FIve predictions for the New Orleans Saints as they eye a Super Bowl in 2020.

The 2019 season ended in disappointment for the New Orleans Saints. With the cusp of a new NFL campaign on the horizon though, the team has a lot to be excited about. Despite a few hiccups during the offseason, the Saints seem to be on the path to success.

Thankfully, the Saints will resume action when most of the other NFL teams do on Sept. 13. However, they’ll be dealing with one of their division rivals, the new-look Tampa Bay Buccaneers. We’re getting ahead of ourselves, though, as the Saints still have a bit more time before their first game is here.

Before Week 1 kicks off, there are a few bold predictions to make about the Saints. Considering how much everyone has been hyping them up, these five predictions are hopefully going to be less about hopes and more of what the Saints are going to be doing heading into this season.

5. New Orleans Saints post the same record as 2019, going 13-3

Of all the predictions, this is easily the least bold of the group. However, 2020 looks a lot different than last year. The team is poised to have a healthy Drew Brees for an entire season with Teddy Bridgewater now a Carolina Panther. While the latter and the rest of the team were able to hold down the fort, it’s going to fall solely on Brees’ shoulders. Some are quick to discount him as an aging veteran but his impressive return from injury last season is not to be ignored.

In 2020, the Saints have a somewhat loaded schedule with games against the Kansas City Chiefs, Green Bay Packers and Minnesota Vikings to contend with. Those three teams are easily going to pose the biggest challenges for them. While they might not lose all of them, the Saints are certainly going to be tested. With those three matchups and divisional games to boot, the Saints will likely stay the same in terms of record.

They’ll definitely be improved as a team but I don’t see their record being any higher than 13-3.
