DraftKings NFL bargains, Week 1: Wide Receivers

Allen Robinson (CHI at DET, $6,500) hauled in 150 or more targets last year for the third time in his career. At this price, it seems DraftKings is sleeping on the Penn State product as much as people in season-long formats who routinely let the 27-year-old former Jacksonville Jaguars Pro Bowler fall outside of the Top Ten wide receivers selected in redraft leagues.

The famous physique of D.K. Metcalf (SEA at ATL, $5,800) made plenty of headlines in 2019, but his impressive play somehow seemed to go under the radar. Week 1 DFS lineups that feature him against an Atlanta Falcons secondary that was routinely battered in 2019 could grow equally swole.

Second-year player Terry McLaurin (WAS vs. PHI, $5,600) likewise lines up against a defensive backfield that had its share of issues last season. While the Philadelphia Eagles have overhauled that unit, it’s a solid bet that “Scary Terry” will still create nightmares for Jim Schwartz’s defense in Week 1.

Remember when people said Lamar Jackson couldn’t pass? What a laugh. That was fun. Meanwhile, Marquise Brown (BAL vs. CLE, $5,100) gets to play the Cleveland Browns this week.

DeSean Jackson (PHI at WAS, $4,900) makes a great stack with Carson Wentz in GPP lineups. Expect history to repeat itself: last year, Jackson likewise faced his former team in Week 1, and caught eight of nine targets for 154 yards and two touchdowns in his first game with Wentz. Yes, please.

Wide receiver is such a deep position, so there are bound to be more bargains to be had here than at any other position. For example, Robby Anderson (CAR vs. LV, $4,700), reunited with former college coach Matt Rhule, is a great high-risk, high-reward option for those looking for a low-priced wide receiver to round out their star-studded DFS lineups.

N’Keal Harry (NE vs. MIA, $4,400) is as forgotten in 2020 as he was over-hyped in 2019…sorry, I just lost my train of thought as I realized my chances to get him at a discount in dynasty leagues is quickly running out. The breakout begins this week.

Tre’Quan Smith (NO vs. TB, $4,000) is finally healthy and makes an intriguing dart throw in an extremely favorable matchup. The 6-2, 209-pound UCF product, hampered by injuries last season, managed to parlay 18 receptions into five touchdowns, offering proof that his boom-or-bust ceiling is higher than most realize.

Parris Campbell (IND @ JAX 3900) has turned heads with his ability to handle a high-volume role in camp. While the game script seems unfavorable at first glance, the low price tag is hard to ignore.
