3. Dallas Cowboys vs. Los Angeles Rams

The Dallas Cowboys and Los Angeles Rams may not be a divisional rivalry but the game on Sunday Night Football, the first of the year, should still be quite a good one.

An 8-8 record last year for the Cowboys wasn’t indicative of how well the team played throughout the year. They had a higher net point differential than the Eagles, who actually won the NFC East last season. However, Dallas took a big step forward this offseason.

Not only did the Cowboys take some high-upside gambles on players like Aldon Smith and returning Randy Gregory but they also added clear instant contributors with Everson Griffen in free agency and CeeDee Lamb in the first round. Throw in Mike McCarthy replacing Jason Garrett and Dallas should be a playoff contender.

On the other hand, the Rams are in a weird spot. After making the Super Bowl just a few years ago, they seemed poised to maintain dominance. That may not be the case, however. Los Angeles finished at just 9-7 last season and things seemed to fall apart. Jared Goff took a step back, the run game suffered and the O-line was awful. Amid that, though, they added superstar cornerback Jalen Ramsey.

The most interesting matchup between these two teams will be Sean McVay vs. Kellen Moore/Mike McCarthy to see which team’s offense is ready to roll in this matchup. This game should be nothing less than a shootout and whichever coaching staff makes the most plays happen should come out with a win.
