Green Bay Packers: 5 Bold predictions for the 2020 season
By Joe Kipp
Will the Green Bay Packers build on an impressive 2019 campaign? Bold predictions for the Pack for this coming season.
The Green Bay Packers will open the 2020 NFL season on Sunday, Sept. 13 at the Minnesota Vikings in U.S. Bank Stadium. The Packers finished in first place in the NFC North last season, which ultimately led to a berth in the NFC Championship game. With sights set on the Super Bowl in 2020, some of our bold predictions may need to come true in order for Green Bay to reclaim the Lombardi Trophy.
The Packers have a lot to play for in 2020. The team is coming off a 13-3 season, having fallen just one game short of the Super Bowl. Green Bay has a tough schedule this season, so it’s entirely possible the team could look much better while also having fewer wins. The team went 8-1 in one-score games last season, a record that’s unlikely to repeat.
In the offseason, we predicted that Allen Lazard would top 1,000 receiving yards. Lazard emerged as a reliable target last season after a breakout performance against the Detroit Lions in Week 6. He finished as the Packers’ second-leading receiver and could have a substantial impact heading into 2020.
Another early bold prediction as that Jordan Love will throw a touchdown pass this season. Of course, that would require the Packers actually putting Love on the field while simultaneously taking the ball out of Aaron Rodgers’ hands. But coach Matt LaFleur could have a few tricks up his sleeve.
Bold predictions rarely come true, but it’s still fun to imagine what could be. The Packers will have a tough task having to repeat as NFC North champions. These five bold predictions may have to come true in order for Green Bay to return to glory.
