Green Bay Packers bold prediction No. 1: Running backs combine for at least 3,000 scrimmage yards

Coach Matt LaFleur has endlessly stated how he envisions the Packers offense moving forward, which is heavily predicated upon the success of the running game. LaFleur wants to marry the pass game with the run game, which creates more opportunities for play action.

The Packers have one of the NFL’s best running backs in Aaron Jones, who led the league in touchdowns last season (19). Jones finished with 1,558 scrimmage years last season, by far a career high. Entering a contract year, the fourth-year runner will enter 2020 with high expectations.

Behind Jones is a capable backup in Jamaal Williams, who may be one of the best pass protectors in the backfield in the NFL. For that reason, alone, Williams will see plenty of snaps on third down. Williams is also an extremely capable receiver, something he apparently focused on even more this past offseason. Williams tallied 713 scrimmage yards in 2019.

Finally, rookie second-rounder A.J. Dillon will see his share of carries, as well. After all, the Packers didn’t draft Dillon to sit on the bench. Combined, I’m calling for Green Bay’s running backs to total at least 3,000 scrimmage yards this season.
