Studs and duds for the Minnesota Vikings in a Week 1 loss to Green Bay.

Right out of the gate in the 2020 NFL season, the Minnesota Vikings already were faced with an early test on Sunday afternoon at US Bank Stadium in Minneapolis. Minnesota opened up the new year with a game against its bitter division rival in the Green Bay Packers when they came to town to play the Vikings on their home field.

In past seasons, the Vikings have been a tough team to beat when playing at home, but that wasn’t the case in the season-opening contest on Sunday afternoon in Week 1.

Right away to start the game, Aaron Rodgers and the Packers had their way with Minnesota and came into US Bank Stadium to pick up a 43-34 win over the Vikings while grabbing a NFC North win in the process.

In the game, Minnesota struggled to find its footing early and often, falling behind Green Bay right away in the first quarter while not being able to catch back up in the final three quarters.

The Vikings did manage to open the game up with a 7-3 lead, but the Packers turned things on shortly after to run away with the game. Green Bay scored 19 points in the second quarter compared to Minnesota’s three to grab a 22-10 lead going into halftime.

In the second half, the Vikings tried to make a comeback, but the Packers didn’t let up. Green Bay ultimately held off Minnesota and dropped nearly 50 points on the road and take down the Vikings.

With the loss, Minnesota drops a key game early on in the year, falling behind the rest of the NFC North and dropping to 0-1 overall. Green Bay, on the other hand, improves to 1-0 and gets a nice victory to begin the new year.

The Vikings will return to action in Week 2 when they hit the road to face off against the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday afternoon in Indianapolis. The Packers get back to action in Week 2 when they return back home to Lambeau Field to host the Detroit Lions in Green Bay’s first home game of the 2020 campaign against another NFC North opponent.

Now with the season-opening contest in the books for Minnesota and Green Bay, let’s go back and pick out three studs and duds for the Vikings in the game.
