Three tight end trade targets for the Dallas Cowboys to replace injured Blake Jarwin.

The Dallas Cowboys had high hopes for Blake Jarwin this season as their No. 1 tight end. Heading into his fourth season, Jarwin just signed an extension this year and had his best campaign fresh in his memory.

Sadly, he wasn’t able to live up to the expectations as he suffered a knee injury in their opening loss to the Los Angeles Rams in Week 1. With Jarwin now done for the year, Dallas is left with Dalton Schultz and Blake Bell as their remaining tight ends.

Clearly, that’s not going to cut it. The Cowboys need to get some help and while there could be a few options in free agency, they could also look to the trade market. With that being said, here are three veteran players the Cowboys could target in a trade to replace Blake Jarwin.

3. Geoff Swaim, Tennessee Titans

A familiar face, Geoff Swaim started out his career with the Dallas Cowboys after they took him in the seventh round of the 2015 NFL Draft out of Texas. What attracted Dallas to Swaim was his ability to block and he parlayed that into a four-year run with the team.

In 2018, he even became the starter for them when Jason Witten headed to the ESPN booth to call games on Monday Night Football. With Witten gone, Swaim took over as the No. 1 guy opposite Blake Jarwin. His season was cut short due to injury but he was respectable in his nine games, catching 26 passes for 242 yards and a touchdown.

Swaim then headed to the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2019 but ended up only playing in six games for them with two starts. He had just 13 catches for 65 yards, which was an average of only five yards per reception. Jacksonville ended up not bringing him back in 2020, and he was a late addition to the Tennessee Titans.

However, right now, he’s buried deep on their depth chart and it’s not unfeasible that he would be moved if the Cowboys are willing to part with a late-round draft pick for his services.
