3. Matt LaFleur’s game plan was excellent

The Packers clearly had a concrete plan heading into Week 1’s matchup against the Vikings: run the ball, control the clock, and let Aaron Rodgers do the rest. Green Bay executed their game plan brilliantly, holding the ball for just under 42 minutes. The Packers dominated time of possession, which allowed them to play their style of football.

The Packers finished the game with 158 rushing yards, 139 of which came from their running backs. Aaron Jones led all rushers with 66 yards on 16 carries, while Tyler Ervin provided a spark on gadget plays, adding 38 yards on four carries. All in all, LaFleur did a nice job of spreading around carries.

The scariest part of the Packers offense on Sunday was that Rodgers looked like he was playing with a chip on his shoulder. The two-time MVP looks like he wants to add another award to his resume after putting on a historic performance in Green Bay’s Week 1 victory.

If Rodgers can continue his dominant play, along with the running game working on a consistent basis, the Packers will be one of the best offenses in the NFL in 2020. Credit LaFleur for his excellent play calling and designs.
