1. Cornerbacks and pass defense

Going into the 2020 campaign, the biggest question mark on the Vikings was the turnover at the cornerback position and how that unit would look with some new faces filling the depth chart.

With third-year cornerback Mike Hughes taking over at the starting role and rookies Cameron Dantzler and Jeff Gladney and other pitching in at the back end of the defense, there will be some newer players stepping into larger role on this team than they’ve had in the past.

Well, in the season-opening loss to Green Bay on Sunday in Minneapolis, that was a glaring weakness on Minnesota’s defense and that resulted in the poor performance defensively, mainly in the pass defense against Aaron Rodgers and company.

Rodgers took advantage of the young and inexperienced secondary of Minnesota and the lack of a pass defense throughout the entire game, finishing with 32 completions for 364 yards and four touchdowns.

Green Bay’s wide receivers finished the game with a nice performance headlined by Davante Adams with 14 receptions for 156 yards and two touchdowns.

For most of the game, the Packers threw the ball all over the field against the Vikings. That could be due to a lack of experience or a lack of playing time together, but regardless, it’s a big concern moving forward in Minnesota.
