Awarding the biggest winners and losers from NFL Week 1 action.

NFL football is back!

Even if your team lost by 32, everyone wins when the NFL graces our screens again. After months of speculation, teams kicked off under unprecedented circumstances.

Unfortunately for some, not everyone had the best first day of football. So let’s break down the good and the bad from the opening weekend of the 2020 season as we name the winners and losers of NFL Week 1.

NFL Week 1 Winner: Ron Rivera

Not only did Ron Rivera win his first game as the Washington Football Team’s coach and not only was it an upset, but he did it while battling cancer. That’s how you start your career with a new team.

Of course, the Eagles were extremely banged up — more on them later — but a win’s a win.

NFL Week 1 Loser: Adam Gase

It’s hard to have faith in a coach who has never been the head coach of a top-25 offense. Losing Le’Veon Bell hurt, but that’s no excuse to muster up just 254 yards of total offense. Gase could be coaching his way out of New York.

NFL Week 1 Winner: Aaron Rodgers

The 36-year-old quarterback silenced a ton of doubters on Sunday with his 364-yard, four-touchdown performance against the Vikings. Those doubts stemmed from the Packers’ selection of Jordan Love in the 2020 NFL Draft and from an alleged focus on the running game under Matt LaFleur.

If this game was any indication, Green Bay may be better off riding Rodgers for the time being. He looked like an MVP again.
