What are the Atlanta Falcons’ biggest concerns after a Week 1 loss to Seattle.
The Atlanta Falcons had the hopes of getting the 2020 NFL season off to a hot start while trying to avoid an early-season collapse like what took place in 2019. In the season opener in Atlanta, the Falcons had a tough test against a dominant NFC opponent right out in the gate as they hope they can return to the postseason for the first time since the 2017 campaign.
Unfortunately for Atlanta, it wasn’t able to kick off the new year on the right foot against the Seattle Seahawks, ultimately falling to Seattle 38-25 in Week 1 to drop the first game of the season.
In the game, the Seahawks started each half hot which ended up being too much for the Falcons to battle back from as they fell behind early. Seattle got on the board early in the contest and was able to hold off Atlanta for a remainder of the game despite the Falcons’ attempt at a comeback to end each half of the NFC showdown.
Seattle opened the game up by outscoring Atlanta 14-3, but the Falcons battled back into things right before halftime with a 9-0 advantage to bring the Seahawks’ lead to 14-12 going into the break.
In the second half, Seattle once again opened a half with a hot start, going on to outscore Atlanta in 24-13 in the final two quarters to pick up the road victory over the Falcons.
With the loss, Atlanta fell in the regular-season opener another season, dropping behind a majority of the NFC with a 0-1 record going into Week 2. The tough tests will continue once again this Sunday for the Falcons, as well, as they travel to face the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday afternoon on the road.
Before preparation begins for the second week of the regular season, let’s go back to the Week 1 contest against Seattle and point out three of the biggest concerns for Atlanta from the loss.
