2. Slow start

Another growing concern right out of the gate in the first game of the year for Atlanta was not only the lack of a strong start to the regular season as a whole but especially the slow starts to each half of the game in Week 1 against Seattle.

In the game last Sunday afternoon at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, Seattle jumped out to two separate sizable leads in the contest, both of which came to begin each half.

In the first quarter, Seattle managed to grab 14 early points while holding Atlanta to just three by the end of the opening frame. The Falcons jumped back with nine points before halftime in the second quarter but was already behind a dominant NFC opponent.

To start the second half, it was a similar situation with the Falcons allowing the Seahawks to hold a 14-0 advantage in the third quarter alone. Atlanta attempted to make a fourth-quarter comeback with 13 points in the final frame, but once again it wasn’t enough to pull out a comeback win.

Moving forward, the Falcons are going to have to come out of each half with a much larger sense of urgency to avoid falling behind early on and therefore playing catch-up the rest of the way.
