3. San Francisco 49ers

Everything that could go wrong seemed to go wrong for the San Francisco 49ers in their Week 1 matchup with the Arizona Cardinals. The state of California is literally on fire, which put their game in jeopardy and they are dealing with a number of injuries at the wide receiver position.

To add to that, All-World tight end George Kittle was hobbled for most of the game and was not much more than a decoy in the second half. Kyler Murray ran wild all over their vaunted defense and they left possibly the best receiver in football in DeAndre Hopkins uncovered far too often.

Thankfully for the 49ers, they get a bit of a reprieve in Week 2 as they face a New York Jets team that is already missing key defensive players and will now be without Le’Veon Bell for several weeks. The primary challenge they will face the next two weeks will be that due to COVID-19 related restrictions, the 49ers may have to travel home despite playing the Jets and Giants at Metlife Stadium in back to back weeks.

Judging from their play in Week 1, the 49ers will have a harder time dealing with jetlag than they will with their opponents but perhaps the Super Bowl loser hangover will strike during that time. Regardless of how the 49ers will deal with their travel issues, they will need to keep their focus and not let the disappointment of Week 1 linger for long.
