These Chicago Bears players will be key to grabbing a second straight win

Well, aren’t we glad that football is back? The cardiac kids, also known as the Chicago Bears, had their fans go through an up and down situation. They came away with a victory they had no right getting, but the fans will take it.

Now the team’s attention turns to their home opener against the New York Giants. In Week 1, they faced a high powered Detroit Lions offense with one of the top quarterbacks in the league, Matthew Stafford.

He made quick decisions, got rid of the ball, and was able to burn the Bears’ defense. With his success, the Bears were on their heels, thus allowing running back Adrian Peterson to step up and run for 93 yards on 14 carries (6.6 yards per run). The Lions’ offensive line also did a fairly good job of protection (until the fourth quarter).

The Giants didn’t have that same success in their first game. Saquon Barkley, the Giants’ All-world running back, had 15 carries for just six yards. Of his carries, he was hit behind the line of scrimmage 11 times.

New York’s offensive line really struggled. In addition to Barkley’s struggles, quarterback Daniel Jones was sacked three times and pressured on 26 of his dropbacks. The line has three new players on it and they showed that they still lacked the cohesiveness needed to succeed.

The Bears need to take advantage of that. Their pass rush only had one sack, but they put a lot of pressure. Khalil Mack had six pressures himself. Hopefully, Robert Quinn makes his Chicago debut and some of those pressures turn into sacks.

On offense, the Bears need to have a complete game. They cannot depend on three uninspiring quarters and then play like their hair was on fire and come up with three touchdowns to come back. They need to have more control and make the key plays to come up with touchdowns early and not just field goals.

In order for that to happen, some key players need to step up. Here are three of them who will be X-factors in order for the Chicago Bears to win their second game.
