3. CeeDee goes for six
In his NFL debut, CeeDee Lamb outperformed the other rookie wideouts taken in the first round by pulling in five of his six targets for 59 yards. Unfortunately, Lamb was also in on one of the plays that cost the Cowboys. Unfortunately, Lamb was also in one of the plays that ultimately cost the Cowboys game.
Going for a fourth-down while trailing 20-to-17, Dallas attempted a short pass to Lamb but he ran his route one-yard shy of the sticks. He ended up being tackled short and the Cowboys had to turn the ball over on downs. There was criticism all week since they could have kicked the field goal to tie the game, but had Lamb run the route deeper, they also could have kept the drive alive and ultimately ended up taking the lead.
Having said all that, there were more positives than negatives for Lamb who looks to be the real deal. And even with players such as Amari Cooper and Michael Gallup on the team, there are plenty of passes that will come his way — and with Blake Jarwin out for the year, there could be even more than expected before the season began.
In Week 2 against the Falcons, he faces a defense that has its issues covering the pass. Atlanta surrendered 322 yards to Seattle in Week 1 with three different players catching a total of four touchdowns. Look for Lamb to take advantage of that secondary in this one and score his first NFL touchdown in his home debut.
