2. Kansas City Chiefs vs. Los Angeles Chargers
The first three games mentioned here featured terrific quarterback matchups but that won’t be the case when the Kansas City Chiefs and Los Angeles Chargers meet. Yes, the Chiefs have the best in the league in Patrick Mahomes but the same is not true for the Chargers after Philip Rivers’ departure made way for Tyrod Taylor with rookie Justin Herbert behind him.
But while LA doesn’t have one of the league’s best quarterbacks, their defense is extremely talented. Joey Bosa and Melvin Ingram harrassed the Bengals last week on the defensive line while a secondary, even without Derwin James, boasts the likes of Casey Hayward, Chris Harris Jr. and Desmond King. They can cause almost anyone problems.
As mentioned, though, the Chiefs have Mahomes and possibly the best offense in the entire league. Kansas City not only has the ultimate trump card under center but a litany of weapons at his disposal. Tyreek Hill, Travis Kelce and Sammy Watkins are elite players at their position and rookie Clyde Edwards-Helaire shined in his career debut.
All told, the Chiefs should pretty easily win this game. After taking on a less than stellar Houston defense in the season-opener, though, it’ll be interesting to see how Mahomes and the reigning champions fare when they go up against a defensive unit that should be considered among the league’s best.
