Minnesota Vikings Week 2 Studs: Justin Jefferson and Adam Thielen

In the passing game, Vikings wide receivers Adam Thielen and rookie Justin Jefferson were the leading contributors and got the bulk of the targets on offense during the game where Minnesota really couldn’t get much going.

For the second straight week, Thielen led the receiving group after doing so in the Week 1 loss to the Green Bay Packers. On Sunday afternoon on the road against the Colts, the wide receiver finished with three catches on eight targets, totaling 31 yards receiving through the air.

The rookie Jefferson added a total of three receptions for a team-best 44 yards through the air.

It’s a good sign to see Thielen and Jefferson leading the way in the passing attack for the Vikings, but Minnesota needs even more from them and others to step up to help this offensive unit moving forward.

Minnesota Vikings Week 2 Dud: Kirk Cousins and turnovers

One of the storylines throughout the game was the turnovers on Minnesota’s side and the Vikings allowing Indianapolis to have multiple extra opportunities on its side of the field. The Vikings offense didn’t look very strong throughout the entirety of the game, and that was in part because of the turnovers that occurred. Especially turnovers made by quarterback Kirk Cousins.

Cousins finished the game with just 11 completions on 26 pass attempts, throwing for a total of 113 yards in the loss. When it came to turnovers and specifically interceptions, Cousins threw a total of three by the end of the game.

No matter where or who you are playing, you can’t shoot yourselves in the foot during a game in the NFL. Cousins and the Vikings did that often in Week 2 against the Colts.
