After the Philadelphia Eagles’ 37-19 loss to the Rams, it’s officially time to panic.

Stephen A. Smith once wrote in the Philadelphia Inquirer that the Philadelphia Eagles did not have wings and that they should be clipped. After an embarrassing performance in a 37-19 loss against the Rams, not only should the wings be clipped but the team needs to hit the panic button.

The pass rush was non-existent on Sunday in Philadelphia as Jared Goff hit 13 of his first 14 passes in stride and had two touchdowns while LA raced out to a 21-3 lead on the road. The Eagles closed the gap to five points but it was to no avail as they Rams outscored them 16-3 the rest of the way. And with that, the Eagles fall to 0-2 on the year.

Combine this bad performance with blowing a 17-point lead on the road in Washington to start their 2020 season, it is clear that one thing is happening in the city of Brotherly Love: the panic button is begging to be hit.

It’s loud and clear. There is nothing more to do than to panic. The worry level has not been like this in Philadelphia since the day Ronde Barber took a pick-six to the house to shut down Veteran’s Stadium in 2002.

Positives are hard to find after two games for the Philadelphia Eagles.

There is no excuse for going down that many points at home, especially for a team that won the NFC East last season. Yes, the Rams are a formidable opponent and there is no fan support, but the natural sound on the broadcast resembled boos that would be typically given to this team following this kind of performance.

The offense is a mess. The line has no depth and, as a result of injuries in the trenches, Carson Wentz is running for his life and the receivers aren’t doing much to help at all. As for the defense, there is no excuse. The Rams lost Cam Akers and still were able to be solid on the ground without breaking much of a sweat.

The Rams receivers were catching passes with ease while the secondary was giving up play after play. LA linebacker Micah Kiser had himself a field day with tackling. The only silver lining for the Eagles was that Aaron Donald did not register a sack. He has yet to do so against the Eagles in his spectacular career.

The Eagles do have the opportunity to host Joe Burrow and the Bengals next week. But if this defense plays like they did in Week 2 again, the reigning Heisman Trophy winner might just play backyard ball with them and earn Cincinnati their first win of the season.
