After a week of negativity, Tom Brady silenced doubters with a Buccaneers win.

It’s no secret by now to hear from various NFL personalities and television commentators that Tom Brady is done and should just retire. In fact, after a loss to the Saints last week, many put the blame solely on him. FS1’s Rob Parker even attempted to troll Brady by talking about his supposed diet.

Looks like the joke is on Parker and everyone else selling the 43-year-old quarterback short as Brady engineered his first win with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, a 31-24 victory over the division rival Carolina Panthers. The Bucs are now 1-1 and currently atop the NFC South pending the Monday Night game for New Orleans against Las Vegas.

It’s not just Parker, however. Many people have been clamoring for Brady’s decline. It’s hard to not do that when the man has beaten every franchise at some point except for the Patriots and has won six Super Bowls with six impressive game-winning drives.

Brady finished the game against Carolina with 217 passing yards, one touchdown to Mike Evans and one unfortunate interception. Many will look at newly acquired running back Leonard Fournette as the reason for the win with a late scamper for a touchdown that effectively sealed the game.

But isn’t the standard for the NFL measured in wins and losses? Brady got the win and played well with it. Even in losses, he has performed admirably, including a 505-yard passing game in a Super Bowl loss to the Eagles.

In the end, all that matters to Tom Brady is the Buccaneers winning football games. And they just did that, without one of their best players in Chris Godwin, who sat out with concussion symptoms. The Bucs are 1-1 and Brady is fueled with motivation. Doubt him if you will, because poking the bear one too many times is a noted recipe for disaster, especially if the bear is the GOAT.
