Fantasy football replacements for Saquon Barkley following a season-ending injury.

The injury bug hit hard in NFL Week 2 as, throughout the league, numerous big-name players suffered disheartening injuries that are likely to keep them off the field for sustained periods of time. Among those players was New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley, one of the first three picks in fantasy football drafts this offseason.

Exiting Sunday’s game against the Bears early, multiple reports stated it’s believed that the running back suffered a torn ACL, which would end his 2020 season. Before even talking about fantasy football, though, that’s just terrible. Injuries are always difficult to stomach but especially for young players on teams that have the potential to start coming into their own. With Barkley and everyone else who went down this week, all we can do is wish them a full and speedy recovery.

In fantasy football leagues, though, the simple truth is that many managers drafted Saquon Barkley to be the cornerstone of their roster. With some young upgrades on the line and the development of Daniel Jones, the hope was that the dynamic playmaker would be able to capitalize on his immense talent. Obviously, he won’t get that opportunity now.

Thus, managers are trying to find a way to replace Barkley on their rosters for the rest of the 2020 season. There isn’t a player that you’ll be able to find on the waiver wire who can replicate the top-tier upside of Barkley but there is the chance that you can pick up and add a player who can at least largely make up for the production lost on your fantasy football roster.

Let’s dive into five players who are available in at least 35 percent of ESPN Fantasy leagues who managers could pick up to replace Saquon Barkley following his injury.
