NFL Power Rankings, Week 3: Packers, Ravens set dominant tone
By Randy Gurzi
Week 1 was good to the Pittsburgh Steelers as they won on Monday Night Football against the New York Giants. Their defense was stifling in that one, making life hard on Daniel Jones and the Giants offense. Then in Week 2, they faced the Denver Broncos at home and were able to win once again.
Pittsburgh was stout on offense in this one with Ben Roethlisberger looking more like himself than he did in Week 1. He finished with 311 yards and two touchdowns and while he had some throws that proved he’s still knocking the rust off, he was good enough to get them the W, keeping them tied for first in the AFC North.
Big Ben also got some help from James Conner who had 106 yards and a touchdown on the ground. That was needed after the frustrating start he had to the season. But he wasn’t alone in having a big game as Diontae Johnson led the team with 92 yards and a touchdown on eight receptions. Also, rookie Chase Claypool showed out with 88 yards and a touchdown on three catches.
Having said all that, the Steelers are known for their defense and that side of the ball was again fun to watch in Week 2. They sacked the Broncos quarterbacks seven times with T.J. Watt leading the way with 2.5. This team can be good this season and it’s easy to overlook them.
