NFL Power Rankings, Week 3: Packers, Ravens set dominant tone
By Randy Gurzi
We knew the Chicago Bears defense was going to be good but so far after two weeks, their offense has been better than expected. For quarterback Mitchell Trubisky, that’s been huge as he was just recently fighting off Nick Foles as the Bears brought in the former Super Bowl MVP to compete for his spot. The Bears starter held him off and while this week wasn’t as impressive as the last, he did enough to lead them to a 17-13 win over the New York Giants.
Overall, Trubisky was 18-of-28 with 190 yards with two touchdowns and two picks and he added 16 yards on the ground. Running back David Montgomery was a huge help for him as he finished with 82 yards on the ground and led the team with 45 yards and one of the two touchdowns.
Chicago also found a rhythm on defense and racked up four sacks on Daniel Jones. Their three biggest stars in their front-seven recorded sacks as well with Khalil Mack, Akiem Hicks, and Robert Quinn each getting one. For Quinn, it was his first as a Bear, after signing a big five-year contract in free agency this offseason.
Now at 2-0, the Bears are tied with the Packers in the NFC North with the Lions and Vikings sitting at 0-2. There’s still a lot of football to be played but this is as great a start as they could have asked for.
