After a narrow victory against the Denver Broncos in Week 1, the Tennessee Titans had another close contest in Week 2 as they hosted the Jacksonville Jaguars in Nashville. In this one, the Titans had a lot more of a challenge than they expected as the Jags put up 480 yards with Gardner Minshew managing 339 yards with three touchdowns.
While the Titans didn’t move the ball as easily as the Jags, they were much more efficient. Overall, they had 354 yards of offense but while Jacksonville had two turnovers, the Titans had none. What they did have though, was four passing touchdowns off the arm of Ryan Tannehill.
The starting quarterback finished 18-of-24 with 239 yards and four touchdowns. Two of those went to tight end Jonnu Smith who finished with 84 yards and two scores on the day. Tennessee was criticized for how much money they paid Tannehill in the offseason and his struggles in Miami were a major reason why that was questioned.
However, since joining the Titans, he’s done nothing but lead them to wins. He’s a smart quarterback who can make every throw and that’s all this team needs to win thanks to their good defense (and yes, even with the yards surrendered this weekend, that defense is still good).
