There have been some great battles between the Seattle Seahawks and New England Patriots and even with a new quarterback in New England, the rivalry was no less exciting. Seattle started things off roughly as a pass from Russell Wilson was tipped and returned by Devin McCourty for aa pick-six and an early lead.

Wilson wasn’t bothered by the play, however, going on to have one of his best games in recent years — which is saying something. Despite poor blocking (as per usual) he threw for 288 yards and five touchdowns while adding another 39 yards.

It was enough to hold off the Pats for a 35-30 win but it all came down to the very last play. After Seattle had to punt following a gutsy call to throw it deep and put the game out of reach, New England marched down to the Seattle one. And as is often the case when these two meet, the winner was decided on the goal line in the final seconds.

This time, Seattle held on as L.J. Collier made a tackle on Cam Newton behind the line of scrimmage to seal the victory. There can be questions about the decision to throw it on their last drive, which gave Newton a chance to steal the win, but the defense held so it becomes a moot point. The Seahawks are off to a quick 2-0 start with Dallas coming to town in Week 3.
