NFL Power Rankings, Week 3: Packers, Ravens set dominant tone
By Randy Gurzi
The New York Giants lost to the Chicago Bears on Sunday but what was even worse was the injury suffered by running back Saquan Barkley. After a frustrating Week 1 outing, Barkley hoped to get back on track this week and he started out looking good with 28 yards on four rushes. But then he went down with a knee injury and had to be carted off the field.
New York fears he tore his ACL which means he will miss the remainder of the season. That’s a frustrating way for him to end his third NFL campaign and for the Giants, it all but guarantees this season will be a loss for them.
Barkley was what made this offense click and while Daniel Jones has some traits to like, he isn’t ready to put this roster on his back and carry them anywhere. It’s not his fault, but the fact is the offense simply doesn’t have enough firepower outside of Barkley to make any noise.
Defensively, they don’t have any bog names either but they did well in the one holding Mitchell Trubisky to 190 yards passing and forcing two picks while also sacking the quarterback four times. Still, they don’t have the makings of an elite defense either so this 0-2 start could be just the beginning of a frustrating campaign.
