NFL Week 2 Winner: Indianapolis Colts

A week after losing a head-scratcher to the Jaguars, the Colts impressed with a 28-11 victory against the Vikings. Like I said last week, Indianapolis needed this victory to prove that their season-opening loss was just a fluke.

We’ll know whether Sunday’s win becomes the new norm in Indianapolis over time. Until then, Frank Reich and his squad should sleep nicely knowing that they beat a team that’s gone 31-16-1 over the past three seasons.

NFL Week 2 Loser: Atlanta Falcons

This should be pretty self-explanatory. Any time a team blows a 19-point lead, they’re a “loser.” Any time a team loses the game because they don’t know how onside kick rules work, they’re a “loser.” Any time a team does both? They’re the Falcons.

NFL Week 2 Winner: Aaron Jones fantasy managers

45.6 fantasy points in PPR leagues is, in the words of Larry David, “pretty, pretty good”. That could have been the major difference in winning your matchup this week. The real news here is that Aaron Jones saw eight targets. That volume is fit for a wide receiver. Jones is looking like fantastic value as a second-round pick in most fantasy drafts.

NFL Week 2 Loser: Saquon Barkley fantasy managers

I’m not going to try to make a clever quip or anything because Saquon Barkley’s injury epitomizes a brutal day in the NFL. Countless players went down with injuries, and some look to be pretty serious.

Barkley joins an unfortunately large list of players who could be heading to the IR for an extended period of time — Nick Bosa, Jimmy Garoppolo, Christian McCaffrey, Raheem Mostert, Cam Akers, Drew Lock, Byron Jones and Brandon Scherff are just some of the players who I hope can make a speedy recovery after getting hurt on Sunday.
