2. Atlanta will have the opportunity to air the ball out often
Another prediction that will occur at Mercedes-Benz Stadium for the Falcons in Week 3 is that the high-powered Atlanta offense will have the opportunity to air the ball out even more against Chicago.
So far this season, the Falcons offense has continued to thrive and be among one of the top units in the entire NFL, something we’ve grown to see annually in Atlanta. Especially when it comes to the passing attack on offense, led by quarterback Matt Ryan, wide receivers Julio Jones and Calvin Ridley and others.
Through two weeks of action, Atlanta ranks second in the NFL in total amount of pass attempts (91), completing 61 of those attempts to come to a completion percentage of 67 percent. In terms of total passing offense, the Falcons have notched 723 yards (second-most in the league) along with six touchdowns (tied for second-most in the NFL).
For the Bears defense, it has allowed opposing offenses to throw 82 times, which is tied for sixth-most in the league. Chicago’s defense has done a nice job against the run, but it has allowed teams to throw for 508 yards through the air, which ranks 14th in the NFL.
More often than not, it’s a safe bet to assume the Falcons offense will air the ball out early and often week-in and week-out. That might be even more the case this weekend in Week 3 at home against the Bears.
