The Atlanta Falcons allowed yet another comeback as they dropped to 0-3.
If there was such thing as a must-win game in Week 3 of the 2020 NFL season, Sunday’s game for the Atlanta Falcons was just that. After falling in the first two games of the year, including an ugly collapse in Week 2 against the Dallas Cowboys, Atlanta came into Week 3 looking to grab its first win of the year back on its home field at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
The Falcons welcomed in NFC opponent and undefeated Chicago Bears to Atlanta on Sunday afternoon in a battle between winless and undefeated squads.
After getting out to a sizable lead, the Falcons once again blew a huge lead to fall for the third time in three weeks, 30-26.
In the first half, Atlanta jumped out to a lead early against Chicago, much like we saw the Falcons do a week ago against Dallas. In the opening quarter, Atlanta held a 6-3 advantage over Chicago, ending up out-scoring the Bears 10-7 in the second frame to hold a 16-10 lead going into halftime.
In the second half, the Bears bounced back and pulled away late to erase a 16-point deficit and remain undefeated on the year. Chicago outscored Atlanta 20-10 in the second half, including 20 unanswered points in the fourth quarter alone, to come from behind in an impressive fashion.
With the win, Chicago improves to an undefeated 3-0 on the year and 2-0 on the road to remain atop the NFC North standings while quickly becoming a surprising team in the NFL at the early stages of the regular season schedule. In the loss, Atlanta drops to a disappointing record of 0-3 overall to move to the bottom of the NFC South and NFC standings without a victory.
Atlanta gets back to action next weekend in Week 4 when it takes on another NFC North squad when it travels to face off against the Green Bay Packers on Monday Night Football in Green Bay. Chicago, on the other hand, will return home in Week 4 when it plays host to the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday afternoon in Chicago.
With the Week 3 game between the Falcons and Bears now in the books, let’s go back and pick out three studs and duds for Atlanta from the contest.
