Stud: Production out of the backfield

For a team that oftentimes airs the ball out more than run the ball on the ground, Atlanta allowed its running backs to lead the charge offensively to help top Chicago. The Falcons finished the game with a total of 25 carries for 144 yards and two touchdowns on the ground, led by the running back duo of Todd Gurley and Brian Hill.

Gurley finished a team-best 14 carries for 80 yards and one touchdown, while Hill tallied nine carries for 58 yards and one touchdown on the ground. This offense is already potent, but if the Falcons can get a solid running game going alongside that passing attack, they will be even more dangerous.

Dud: Taking full advantage of turnovers

The good news for Atlanta was that it was able to force Chicago into one interception and two fumbles, although both fumbles were recovered by the Bears.

The bad news for the Falcons is that when an opposing offense allows you the opportunity to steal the ball from them, you have to take advantage of that. They didn’t manage to do that to the fullest capability.

The defense continues to struggle early on in the season, most notably allowing teams life and the opportunity to get endless chances to climb back into the game. That has to change if the Falcons want to turn things around in 2020.
