Stud: WR Allen Lazard

As was discussed via NFL.com early Sunday morning, wide receiver Davante Adams was be a game-time decision. The prolific pass-catcher injured his hamstring during the team’s 42-21 victory over the visiting Detroit Lions in Week 2. And indeed, Adams was not available for this prime time clash at the Superdome (ironically, either would Saints’ record-setting wideout Michael Thomas).

So who would step up for Aaron Rodgers but none other than Allen Lazard. In the team’s first two games this season, he totaled seven catches for 108 yards and one touchdown. On Sunday night at New Orleans, he was targeted eight times and caught six passes for 146 yards and one touchdown.

Dud: WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling

It was hard to ignore the impact Marquez Valdes-Scantling had in the team’s Week 1 win at Minnesota, as well as his contributions in Green Bay’s come-from-behind victory over the Lions last week. Wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling burned the Vikings for four catches, good for 96 yards — 45 of that via a touchdown pass from Aaron Rodgers.

Against Detroit, he totaled only three receptions but for 64 yards, including a 41-yard grab. But on Sunday night at the Superdome, Valdes-Scantling was targeted four times by Aaron Rodgers but he pulled down just one pass for five yards. The Packers had more than enough in the win over the Saints, but the young receiver’s absence was noted.
