It looked as though the Minnesota Vikings were finally going to get a win. They had a breakout game from rookie receiver Justin Jefferson who pulled in seven receptions for 175 yards and a touchdown. There was also Dalvin Cook going off for 181 yards and a score on the ground.

However, as pointed out by Ben Goesslin of the Minnesota Star Tribune, the Vikings defense has struggled to figure things out this season after a lot of changes to their personnel. That led to them blowing a 12-point lead in the last quarter and a half, which leaves them looking at an 0-3 record.

"“But a Vikings defense that still hasn’t found its footing blew a 12-point lead in the final 22 minutes of the game, while a final Minnesota chance to win the game went haywire. The end result was a 31-30 loss that dropped the Vikings to 0-3 for the first time since 2013, before road games in Houston and Seattle.”” — Goessling, Minnesota Star Tribune"

This is new territory for the Vikings who have been NFC contenders for the past several seasons. They did lose some key defenders and one of their star receivers, Stefon Diggs, as they found themselves in a tough cap situation. Even so, the belief was that they would have been better than this.
