NFL Power Rankings, Week 4: Seahawks, Packers keep surging
By Randy Gurzi
Don’t let the 1-2 record fool you, the New Orleans Saints are still a very good team. They were upset on Monday Night Football in Week 2 against the Las Vegas Raiders which was a shock but then they came back in Week 3 and held their own against one of the best teams in the NFL.
New Orleans hosted the Green Bay Packers on Sunday Night Football and even without Michael Thomas, they were able to put up 30 points, but it wasn’t enough as Green Bay held on for the win. Still, there were some positives to take away, including how much better Drew Brees looked in this one than he had in the first two games.
With questions surrounding his arm strength, Brees came out and threw for 288 yards and three touchdowns. He also found a connection with Emmanuel Sanders who had 45 yards and a score. In fact, they might have won the game had they kept Brees out there the entire time.
Tied up at 27 all in the fourth quarter, New Orleans brought in Taysom Hill to play quarterback and he fumbled it near midfield. This set up an easy field goal for the Packers and took the Saints momentum away from them. Had they kept that ball and scored there, things could have been much different. Having said that, they still are a team to worry about, regardless of their record at this point.
