For the first time this season, the Arizona Cardinals were dealt a loss as they fell 26-23 to the Detroit Lions. After two early-season wins, it was a ‘come back to earth’ game for Arizona and quarterback Kyler Murray. The No. 1 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft had his worst game of the year, tossing three interceptions in the loss.

He does deserve some credit though as he continued to fight in this one and even found a way to take the lead late in the third quarter. After falling behind 17-13, he led them on a seven-play drive that ended with a 54-yard field goal from Zane Gonzalez. He then took them 75 yards on 11 plays, capping that one off with a four-yard touchdown pass to Andy Isabella.

That score made it 23-20 but the Cards were unable to score again in the final 15 minutes. Detroit did though, as they hit a field goal with 6:44 left to play and then Matt Prater knocked in one more — hitting a 39-yarder with no time on the clock.

Arizona should still be fine, entering Week 4 with a mark of 2-1 with Carolina and the New York Jets on the schedule next. As long as they don’t continue to hurt themselves, they should be in the mix for a Wild Card spot.
