NFL Power Rankings, Week 4: Seahawks, Packers keep surging
By Randy Gurzi
The Joe Judge era is not off to a great start for the New York Giants. They dropped a 36-to-9 contest in Week 3 against the San Francisco 49ers which has them sitting at 0-3. It’s easy to look at their loss of running back Saquan Barkley, who tore his ACL in Week 2, and say that’s why they were blown out.
However, that excuse doesn’t hold much water when you look across the field at their opponent. As good as Barkley is, the 49ers were without even more of their weapons. Quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo was out, as was tight end George Kittle and their top two running backs Raheem Mostert and Tevin Coleman.
Even with all those injuries, the San Francisco offense moved the ball up and down the field with the greatest of ease. Backup quarterback Nick Mullens had 343 yards and their committee of runners finished with 93 yards. As for New York, Daniel Jones had 179 yards and a pick while the runners had just 66 yards — 49 of which came from Jones.
Things have been rough to start for the Giants and it doesn’t seem as though there’s much hope for it to get better in the near future. This could be a long season for the Giants.
