Heading into this season, the Denver Broncos were a team that I was very high on. They were 4-1 down the stretch with Drew Lock under center to close out 2019 and that made it seem as though they could have been very good this year. Especially after some of the additions that they made — which were all centered around making things easier for Lock.

Denver added receivers Jerry Jeudy and K.J. Hamler in the draft and Lock’s top target at Missouri, Albert Okwuegbunam. However, they have yet to put it all together — and injuries have played a huge part in that.

Before the season began, they lost Von Miller who was their best defender. Then, they saw more injuries pile up as their No. 1 receiver, Courtland Sutton, tore his ACL and is also out for the year. As if that wasn’t enough, they had to go into this one with Jeff Driskel starting as Drew Lock is out for some time.

Driskel didn’t finish the game though, as Brett Rypien ended up coming in for him after he was ineffective. Rypien was solid going 8-of-9 passing for 53 yards with a pick and could be in line to start until Lock returns. The question is how bad things will get until then as they’re now in an 0-3 hole.
