NFL Power Rankings, Week 4: Seahawks, Packers keep surging
By Randy Gurzi
There was some fun banter ahead of the Thursday Night Football showdown between the Miami Dolphins and Jacksonville Jaguars, but the action during the game didn’t come close to that. Before taking the field, veteran quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick — who has arguably the best beard in football — poked fun at Gardner Minshew for the handlebar mustache.
Minshew responded by taking a jab at Fitzpatrick for being much older. Of course, it was all in good fun but the only person laughing once the game was underway was Fitzpatrick. The Miami signal-caller was cerebral in his approach, completing an insane 18-of-20 passes with two touchdowns on the day (for good measure, he ran a touchdown and had 38 yards on seven carries, proving age is just a number). Fitzpatrick ended up with just 160 yards passing but didn’t need more than that as the Dolphins made it look easy with the 31-13 win.
Heading into this game, there were calls for Fitzpatrick to be benched in favor of rookie Tua Tagovailoa, but those calls will likely be silenced for at least one week. Even with the win, the Dolphins have a lot of work to do and they’ll likely still be picking in the top-five when the season is over. But this one was a fun win for them and their fans.
