NFL Power Rankings, Week 4: Seahawks, Packers keep surging
By Randy Gurzi
This season started out promising for the Washington Football Team but has gotten worse as it goes along. They defeated the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 1 after coming back from 17 points down and then lost 30-15 in Week 2 against Arizona.
Then in Week 3, it looks as though they had a chance to get back on track. They were up 7-0 against the Cleveland Browns early but then surrendered 17 unanswered points and were down 17-7 going into the half. However, they then got things rolling and took a 20-17 lead into the final quarter. Unfortunately, they again gave up 17 points in a row as the Browns ground attack wore them down. The final score was 34-17 and they’re now looking at a 1-2 start with a lot to work on.
What might have been most confusing about this one was the way head coach Ron Rivera sat on his timeouts. Down 11, the Browns were moving the ball and Washington never stopped the clock. Instead, they let them run the clock down and kick a field goal. Still, that made it just a two-score game and Washington could have tried to go for a score and an onside kick.
He decided against it and elected to concede victory. That’s a bit concerning since this team needs to learn how to fight to the end.
