Baltimore Ravens: Studs and duds from Week 3 vs. Chiefs
Stud: KR Devin Duvernay
Here’s a little harsh reality for the Baltimore Ravens and head coach John Harbaugh, although the reality that his specialty when it comes to special teams was one of the team’s bright spots in a convincing loss. Rookie wide receiver Devin Duvernay would wind up returning two kickoffs for 119 yards in the club’s loss to the Chiefs, one of those an eye-opening 93-yard score in the second quarter that would narrow Kansas City’s lead to three points at the moment.
The 2020 third-round pick from the University of Texas also caught two passes for a modest seven yards in the 34-20 setback. With that kind of speed, don’t be surprised if Duvernay sees more time on offense.
Dud: TE Mark Andrews
He was the team’s top pass-catcher a year ago and proved to be a great safety blanket for teammate Lamar Jackson. And two weeks into the season, Ravens’ tight end Mark Andrews ranked second on the team with nine receptions, good for 109 yards and two of Jackson’s five touchdown passes.
But on Monday night against the defending Super Bowl champions, the third-year pro was targeted more than any Baltimore pass-catcher. But eight throws to the 2019 Pro Bowler resulted in only three catches for 22 yards, with more than half of that (13 yards) coming on one grab. Of course, it was a rough night for a Baltimore offense that managed only 228 total yards in the loss.
