Stud: WR Mecole Hardman

Chiefs’ quarterback Patrick Mahomes had a big night against the Ravens, running for one score and throwing for 385 yards and four touchdowns. But the fourth-year pro doesn’t do it alone as he was not sacked all evening by Don Martindale’s aggressive unit. And his ability to avoid pressure was one reason he found wide receiver Mecole Hardman for a 49-yard score with 1:48 remaining before halftime.

The emerging performer, who also handles punt and kickoff return duties for the team, was targeted six times on Monday night and finished with four receptions, good for 81 yards and the aforementioned score. He totaled only three catches in the team’s first two games.

Dud: Special teams

If there was an area that had some issues on Monday night and some units that may need addressing down the road, Andy Reid’s special teams weren’t exactly at their best in the win over the Ravens. After taking a 6-3 first-quarter lead via a touchdown run by Patrick Mahomes, kicker Harrison Butker missed the point-after.

Kansas City would take a 10-point lead early in the second quarter but it was short-lived as Baltimore rookie Devin Duvernay blazed up the right sideline and burned the Chiefs’ coverage units for a 93-yard touchdown. Meanwhile just before halftime and following a promising drive by Mahomes, Butler pulled a 42-yard field goal attempt wide left.
