Pick Analysis. Pick 33. player. TE. 840. Scouting Report. Round 2. Kyle Pitts

Yes, the Jets need wide receivers but, in truth, that really minimalizes the weakness of the New York offense. What they actually need is viable weapons for Lawrence in the passing game. And as Kyle Pitts showed in Florida’s season-opener, he may not be a wide receiver but he can bring that.

Pitts hauled in four touchdowns and racked up 170 yards in the Gators win and showed what a matchup nightmare he is. His combination of size and athleticism makes him a matchup nightmare when he runs routes but he’s also capable staying in and blocking. He’s worth a first-round pick, so to get him at No. 33 overall is huge.

Pick 65. Israel Mukuamu. CB. Pick Analysis. Round 3. player. 850. Scouting Report

Amid the issues with the Jets defense is the lack of quality players in the secondary. That’s why they look at the first selection in the third round of this 2021 mock draft and deem Israel Mukuamu as a great target.

At 6-4 and with a sizeable frame, Mukuamu isn’t a freak athlete but he’s a physical player with great instincts. What’s intriguing about his fit for the Jets is his potential versatility as a cornerback/safety combo. In any case, the South Carolina product should come in and offer nice help to the Jets.

Pick 94. Dazz Newsome. WR. player. Round 3. 838. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis

Though Pitts has the potential to be a game-changing weapon at tight end, the Jets need more than just one weapon. So they add Dazz Newsome here with the No. 94 overall pick, pairing an absolute dynamic big-play threat with young Denzel Mims in the wide receiver corps.

Finally getting stability at quarterback for the Tar Heels last year, the 5-11, 190-pound Newsome thrived last year with 72 catches for 1,018 yards and 10 touchdowns. He has downfield ability but also the ability to work underneath and create yards after the catch. That’s a weapon New York needs, which makes him a solid add at this point of the draft.
