Chicago Bears: 3 Bold predictions for Week 4 vs. Colts
1. Nick Foles has another good game
Nick Foles continues to show how good he is coming off the bench and helping teams win. He did a great job last week, throwing passes of 28, 29, 30 and 37 yards. He comes in and all the receivers need to be aware that they could see a pass go their way at any time. There will be no more deciding on picking just one receiver and staring him down. If the main target isn’t open, Foles will go through his progression and find someone who is.
The former Super Bowl MVP also does a good job of getting the ball to the receiver where he needs it to catch it and make a play. With Trubisky, he would overthrow, underthrow, lead the receiver too much, or throw behind the receiver. The receiver would have to make an adjustment just to make the catch and by the time he secures the ball, the defense is right on top of him to stop the play. There aren’t very many yards after the catch with Trubisky. Things will be different with Foles.
We saw that on the touchdown pass to Allen Robinson. Foles threw the pass where only Robinson could make the catch. Foles threw a great pass and Robinson was able to break two tackles and score the touchdown to bring the Bears to within three points.
There is all this talk about how the Colts have a great defense. Well, while the Bears get criticism for beating teams that have an overall record of 1-8, guess what the overall record of the Colts’ opponents is? You guessed it, 1-8 as well. The Colts have a 2-1 record so who is better? Also, the Colts made the Jacksonville Jaguars look good, so there’s that.
Foles adds some excitement to this offense. Everyone is at attention and ready to go. I’m sure there are quite a few plays that Nagy hasn’t used on account of Trubisky’s limitations. We’ll see now how dynamic this offense is when pages are added to the system.
Prediction: Foles throws for 247 yards and 3 touchdowns.
