Best DraftKings Week 4 values: Tight Ends

Few positions on the main slate have been hit harder by the changing nature of this week’s schedule than the tight end position. Add Travis Kelce, Jonnu Smith, and Eric Ebron to a list of unavailable options that includes George Kittle, Zach Ertz, Jared Cook, and the always reasonably-priced Hayden Hurst.

Where does that leave DFS enthusiasts in need of a quality tight end? Mark Andrews (BAL at WAS, $6,000) is now the default Rolex.  Along with Tyler Higbee (LAR vs. NYG, $5,700) and Darren Waller (LV vs. BUF, $5,200), Andrews will likely be a bit too highly-owned for our tastes.

Mike Gesicki (MIA vs. SEA, $5,100) and T.J. Hockenson (DET vs. NO, $4,800) suddenly become our favorite plays, along with Evan Engram (NYG at LAR, $4,400) and Dalton Schultz (DAL vs. CLE, $4,300). Sneakier values can be had in the form of Rob Gronkowski (TB vs. LAC, $3,600), who should benefit from Chris Godwin’s absence, and Logan Thomas (WAS vs. BAL, $3,500), who should be one of the most highly targeted player on the field from either team, at any position.

Drew Sample (CIN vs. JAX, $3,500) is likely to see several targets in a high volume passing offense, so he can’t be ignored at his Week 4 salary. We also have our eyes on two under-the-radar GPP dart throws who can’t be ignored at their present prices: Ian Thomas (CAR vs. ARI, $3,000), who draws a favorable matchup, and Adam Trautman (NO at DET, $2,500).

Thomas has been sparingly used so far, so we like Trautman even more with no Jared Cook around. The highly talented rookie out of Dayton has caught all three targets thrown his way so far, and steps into a role in which he’ll catch passes from future Hall of Famer Drew Brees in an offense that’s missing two prime targets in the passing game: Cook and Michael Thomas.
