Stud: Michael Davis

Michael Davis‘ four tackles and one defended pass were great and all, but the reason he’s a stud this week is that he had a huge pick-six off of Tom Brady to put the Bolts up early in the game. Davis took the ball 78 yards to put his team up 14-7 and really make it look like the Chargers were for real in this one.

Davis might not be a household name, but he can now say he had a pick-six off a six-time Super Bowl-winning quarterback. Not many players can say that. This pick-six was huge because this game was very back and forth and without this key return, the Chargers probably allow it to be a closer game much sooner but Davis’ pick-six showed that this defense can make plays and that’s good to know moving forward.

Dud: Casey Hayward

Casey Hayward is one of the best cornerbacks in the league, but he had a rough go of it on Sunday in Tampa Bay. Hayward was matched up with Mike Evans of the Buccaneers and couldn’t stop the Bucs wide receiver from having a huge day.

Evans finished Sunday totaling seven catches for 122 yards and one touchdown. To make matter worse, Evans was banged up in this one and had to leave the game earlier on. He returned and continued to get key catches against Hayward, which Chargers fans aren’t used to seeing.

Hayward will bounce back, but this was definitely not one of his better performances.
